Mean While Down in Sunny Bearsted.....
Whilst I was a Ceramics South East the rest of the club were putting on a display of Bonsai at the Annual Bearsted Fayre near Maidstone in Kent. The members who attended and set up the display excelled themselves with putting on a grand display of trees. As you can see by the pictures it was a fantastic day and the club display was well received by the general public.

Ceramics South East
Over the weekend of 26-28th June I attended the prestigious Ceramics South East Festival. There were over 70 potters from the South East of the UK and a few international potters. I set up my stand on the Thursday, my work and the Bonsai I displayed was well received. Along with other things there was a attempt to break the Guiness World record for the most number of pots thrown in one hour, all pots had to be the same size and thrown to a gauge. The current record stood at 87 and the holder of the record for the past 7 years was there to defend her title. The record was smashed with an incredible 150 pots by Billy Byles from the Aylesford Pottery in Kent. Well done Billy nice to see the record now resides in Kent. Here are a few pictures of the weekend including my stand and the record attempt

Ceramics South East vs Bearsted Fayre

Over this coming weekend I am doing the Annual Ceramics South East show at the Aylesford Friary showing my wares and trying to bring Bonsai Ceramics to the masses. For more information please visit http://www.ceramics-southeast.co.uk/ it looks to be a fantastic weekend.
The remainder of the club will be displaying their trees at the Annual Bearsted Fayre held on Bearsted Green, near Maidstone, Kent on Saturday 27th June. Good luck guys in recruiting new club members and I am sure the display will be fantastic if the Whitstable show was anything to go by

British Shohin Association Book

The BSA book has now been released and is avaiable through Willowbog Bonsai's online shop here http://www.willowbog-bonsai.co.uk/ The book is free to BSA members and those who's tree's, and pots, were in the show. For those club members who are unaware Simon's mame composition was in the show and will be featured in the book. Just goes to show that your trees are worthy of being shown at a high end show and I would encourage all to try this experience as Simon will tell you himself that it truly is a fantastic and entertaining experience.
Kent Bonsai Show Part 2
The weather over the weekend was glorious and there was a very good standard of trees exhibited. Here are a few more pictures of the weekend

The former "Italian Job" now renamed by Simon as "Sleeping Dragon" or in Italian should be proper "Drago Addormentato" as the dead wood at soil level resembles a dragons skull

Website of the Month

This month I have put a website link here that you will find very useful, in hindsight perhaps I should have put it at the begining of the year. http://www.bonsaidiarydil.co.uk
Bonsai Diary is a very good resource at finding out what's going on in all things Bonsai. Have a look and see for yourself
Last Nights Club Meeting
Last night club members brought their trees to the club so we could select the trees for the show that we have coming up over the next month. The club will also be putting on a display at the Bearsted Fayre on the 27th June which is on Bearsted Village Green near Maidstone, Kent.
Here are a few of the trees that will be making an appearance at the shows. Look forward to seeing you there if you attend.
